COMPOSITION:

Para-Tulle dressing is gauze of leno BP, weave evenly impregnated with paraffin containing Chlorhexidine Acetate B.P 0.4-0.6% w/w.

DESCRIPTION:

Chlorhexidine is an antibacterial cationic polybiguanide
agent and is a disinfectant which is effective against a wide range of
vegetative gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

PHARMACOKINETIC PROPERTIES:

MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Chlorhexidine is a positively-charged molecule that binds to the
negatively-charged sites on the cell wall; it destabilizes the cell wall and
interferes with osmosis. Damage to the cytoplasm’s delicate
semipermeable membrane allows for leakage of components leading to cell death.

PHARMACOKINETICS:
In topical applications, chlorhexidine is shown to have the unique ability to bind to the proteins present in human tissues such as skin and
mucous membranes with limited systemic or bodily absorption. Protein bound chlorhexidine releases slowly leading to prolonged activity.

THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS:

Chlorhexidine Acetate BP is a disinfectant which is effective against a
wide range of vegetative gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria &
also used in:

    • Minor burns & scalds
    • Laceration, abrasion and other skin lose wound.
    • Donor and recipient graft site.
    • Leg ulcer
INSTRUCTION FOR USE:
  • Clean the wound using stand. Techniques.
  • Select the size of dressing and peel off the pouch.
  • By using gloves and forceps, remove protector paper.
  • Gently apply single layer of impregnated gauze on wound.
  • Apply a secondary absorbent dressing as required and secure the affected spot.
  • If the dressing stick, soak it gently with normal saline (0.9%).
PRECUATIONS FOR USE:
    • Do not use in the eye, auditory canal
      (especially in perforated eardrums), or near
      meninges, brain or spinal cord
    • Not for intravenous or oral route of
      administration or for use in body cavities.
    • If any signs or symptoms of a suspected
      hypersensitivity reaction develop, immediately
      stop use and contact the physician.
DRUG INTERACTIONS:

The activity of chlorhexidine is reduced or neutralized
by an alkaline pH, the presence of organic matter,
anionic detergents, and tannins.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

It is contraindicated in patients with a known
hypersensitivity to the product or any of its components,
especially in those with a history of possible chlorhexidine
related allergic reactions.

STORAGE INSTRUCTION:
    • Storage temperature should not exceed 25°C.
    • Protect from direct sunlight.
